One of the largest misconceptions created by the “diet industry” is the term “weight loss” Diets do not discriminate between body fat, muscle or water loss. Dieters who severely restrict calories run the risk of muscle loss. When our muscle mass is reduced, so is the body’s ability to burn body fat. The result being a slower metabolism, needing to eat less and less to drop body fat but being incredibly hungry and unsatiated. This leads to an inability to be compliant, binge eating, regain of lost scale “weight” and generally more to boot. Then the cycle begins again. Diet / Initial “weight loss” / Fail / Weight Regained / Discontent / Diet.
I often come across what I call “lifestyle dieters” Those of us who are always on a “diet” My goal in fat loss nutrition is to get people off diets and onto a lifestyle eating plan. If you are on a “diet” we assume eventually you will go off the “diet” A lifestyle way to eat however in compasses the ability to have the occasional treat meal, enjoy the piece of birthday cake, eat the Easter egg and not think everything is ruined. One piece of cake will not “make you fat” just as one chicken salad will not “make you skinny” It is what we do 85 – 90% of the time that impacts our total body fat. Try to lose the words “diet” and “weight” from your eating vocabulary and instead think fat loss and lifestyle eating.
I specialise in personalised food plans for long term fat loss and maintenance. Completing a reverse diet cycle once goals are met. It is an exciting, varied and freeing way to eat. I love seeing my clients achieve results they never thought possible and maintaining them.

Re do assessments for comparison and progress monitoring. Additions are made to initial food plan as the metabolism speeds or goals/situations change. Education on food label reading, food groups etc as appropriate to you.

Reverse dieting to maintain fat loss once goals are achieved. Once body fat loss goals are met, I suggest continuing with follow up consultations for several months in order to reverse diet and lift calories and metabolism while maintaining fat loss. This is one of the most important components of Fat Loss nutrition and often one people miss out and hence can regain lost weight. It is a simple process and the absolute key to long term fat loss and maintenance.
